Remote Sensing Workshop
For State, Local, and Tribal Governments

April 5, 2001

Sponsored by NASA
Presented by GISAC and NMGIC

A workshop on remote sensing applications for state, local and tribal governments will be held April 5, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. The workshop is sponsored by NASA and is jointly presented by the New Mexico Geographic Information Council (NMGIC) and the NM Geographic Information Systems Advisory Committee (GISAC). The workshop is an introduction to remote sensing technology and its application to needs and problems at local levels. Topics to be presented include an introduction to the fundamentals of remote sensing, an overview of satellite sensor systems, and a discussion on image processing techniques (preprocessing, geocorrection, projections, data integration, and mosaics). Case studies will be examined to discuss: 1) classification and enhancement techniques, 2) which sensors are appropriate for the application, 3) software and hardware requirements, 4) processing techniques, and 5) results and outputs.
